my island
The place where I live is my island. I have a wish stronger than being the owner of a lamborghini, which is to declare independence of a piece of land and take it as my own, as my kingdom. best would be an island. To live there, make my own rules, which would be the lack of rules anyway and where everyone living there too would like themselves so much that insecurities, envy, hate, jealousy and other feelings would hardly exist. everyone would be selfish, positively selfish.
Back to the beginning: the place where I live is my island and it has no fixed address. is 'here' as in where I am and at the same time is a meeting point of many places. This physical volatility is possible through the Internet and is also possible because of friends who come to visit from other places. when we meet with other people, this place moves, travels distances only possibly visible by those inside the house. Today I am here in my room and I am also in Rome at Live Performance Meeting. I am here but while chatting with the guys, like Brendan, Toby, Ilan or YroYto, I forgot myself here, since, through the light of the sky on the other side, I could feel the temperature and through the movement of the computer I could feel myself moving around and seeing the buildings, from the inside and outside.
There is another way to forget myself and that way is to dance. the same way as walking or going to some concerts, dancing also takes me to places where I am the only one with access to. I forget myself, I forget where I am and with whom I am too. I am one with the music - the same way as performing. only that performing is more intense as there is the anxiety of waiting and the joy of being making visuals for everyone else to see and enjoy.

Festival Sincero procura talentos

Diz-me ela assim:

I'm not just remaking the body as text. (...) I'm really fascinated with what's there. Like when I do body-building. I'm fascinated with the capacity, and what can I do with *this*. I'm interested in going in and learning what is there. That's the fascination. Why would I want to sit there and totally remake myself with some idea that I'm never going to die, that I'm going to be forever beautiful? That's ridiculous. I am going to die, I am getting towards old age, I'm not going to be forever beautiful if I am now. I don't *have* a text outside of the body that I want to impose on the body in some kind of fascistic way. I grew up in a society where the body was excluded, and in a very major way women's bodies were and are excluded from the society. Women are only allowed in the society if (and this goes back to de Sade) women become substitute men, and then they are libertines, or if they are there as organs for men. Yet, the body is always connected to the imaginary, and whatever that is for women's bodies, that imaginary does not exist in our society.

an anarcheology of hearing and seeing
A few months ago, in an interview published by NEURAL, an italian magazine about art and activism, I found a fascinating author, my favorite at this moment.
The name of the author/theorist is Siegfried Zielinski and he wrote a quite unique ad interesting book that crosses in all directions history and theory, beliefs and experiments, and many other areas of knowledge, on the creation of an anarcheology of hearing and seeing through technical means.
Rhizome has also published an interview with him lead by David Senior.
From this interview:
I am of the opinion that the sciences belong to the poetized and that they should be handled musically, because musical relations appear to be the fundamental relations of Nature.
From a perspective of media archeology, we have to give up trusted cartographies. Technical media as we know them were made marketable and developed into products in the metropolis of the western world (London, Paris, New York, Berlin, etc). If however we are interested in deep-temporal emergence and development, we have to use a wholly other orientation. The deeper we penetrate historical layers, the more we must turn towards the far East and above all towards China, and from there we roam through Asia Minor and the Arab lands and cultures, moving then into southern Europe, before we arrive in the pre-modern regions and cities familiar to us. My thesis is that the new and arousing ideas come out of the provinces much more frequently than out of the centers of power, where they are worked over and freed from their resistances. In order to characterize the particular form of collective work which emerges out of the networking of heterogeneous ideas and fields, I use the expression "economy of friendship".
As for the book, is called "Deep Time of the Media: an archeology of hearing and seeing through technical means" and I am at the moment enjoying reading it.
The interview at NEURAL is also worth to have a look at as it gives a personal perspective of history and late developments of technology.

carta ao pai natal
pai natal,

Ana

first projecta-S
To the question if went well the first projecta-S event on Thursday night, I say enthusiastically yes, couldn't been better.
The chosen performer was professionally perfect. The owner of the place was impeccable with the necessary technical support and, in spite of the differences, as we are just now working together, this was a good start.
For the performance with which I started my curatorial practices in Portugal, I wanted to show something different and unique from what I have seen so far within experimentalism made in Portugal. I think I succeeded. A Tiny Wee is also different from what I do as practitioner/performer. This way to present diversity of approaches and technologies.
The opportunity to have a program on realtime audiovisual performance to chose to go to on a Thursday night is almost a novelty in the city of Porto. I hope projecta-S continues as this is part of my active contribute to development of realtime audiovisual performance as well as actively participate in the cultural development of the city I live in.
The bar was almost empty when we came out of the cinema room after the show. Dani is super enthusiastic and passionate about her work and generously talks about it. She shares with those interested her motivations, expectations, process and reasons, I learned a few very interesting things, from performance to the wonderful world of felines.
Next projecta-S will in be July. It will be very different from this one, it will also be different from the strict concept of experimentalist.

A non-linear tale with two characters, Ruby and Shadowman, who explore conceptually the muscles in a dreamlike reality. Where is always Night.
In this performance the tale and its symbolisms are interpreted within the musical, visual and scenic aspects of the narrative. The muscles evolve through Ruby, who by his turn, evolve with the help of his shadow Shadowman. Together they interpret the musics and tell a story of two characters.

A Luizinha {english version}
There is a business in Porto that does all sorts of small jobs, like painting walls, walk the dog, baby sitting, ...
any kind of small job.
The originality of this business is that the job is done by fit girls.
The lady in charge is bossy and the girls drink lots of beer, listen to loud music and sing with an horrendous voice.
Nonetheless, they are very efficient and not expensive at all.

Art project:
Finding a job is a sad and depressing process anywhere in the world. The national and present reality of it is so tragic that can only be hilarious. As all in life, we can see it as a source of discontent if we wish so. Or then, make the most of it.
This is the best combination so far of art work / therapy / money making / everyday life / process, all with an artistic purpose.
The project has no name yet and has no structure either. It will be a collection of small works, CVs, videos and texts that document the diversity of skills in practice for the good cause of paying the rent.
In the process, this is hope for those who feel like having a job is a basic condition for living well with those who do have one. It is not. Is also a statement: people have lots of skills to use and is fun a change and go for creativity.

A Luizinha

Dreaming of a bigou cucombou!
Apaixonei-me pela imagem, atitude e energia do homem.
