Historical background

The Sonics has been on my (very limited) favorites list since I was 18. To it, I added more or less by the same time also The Cramps and later Butthole Surfers and The Residents.
In celebration of loud, noisy, weird music and of all dancing and jumping and screamed singing throughout all this years, I'll travel.
A LOT!

We have DJ battles here at home. We also have good wallpaper.

We also do karaoke and club sessions.
It's Portugal at its best.

In dedication to:
The guy traveling the world (so he doesn't forget historical legacy)
All rural holidays until I was 24 (I wish rural rap existed back then)
karaoke home made
All riders and racers who once had a Famel, Boss, Zundapp, SS Sach(o)... or a tractor

I had here previously the 'Ambulance' video because is the music I like better by TV on the Radio but I changed to this video because it makes a few connections at the same time, which just a couple of hours ago I realized: this moment of writing text well illustrated with the lyrics (after a phone call I prayed to happen), is how I got to listen to the band, in a CD which was a birthday present from Ben and Magda and the last link is through Benton that used rutt/etra's synth (see related post, written in Jan, NY) to create the video.
Through it I go backwards to NY and to Falmouth and I look through unpacked boxes for the CD so I can share with Pedro and Isabel with whom I spend most of my portuguese time.

'De manha vou comprar po'' (Carvalho, I., 23.03.2008)

I have been caught, throughout this week, in time portals which leads me backwards and forwards in my own personal history.
Last night I was 18.
Last Wednesday I was 25.
Friday night there was a moment where I was forcing the impossible to achieve the reality of living a parallel life, where the expected in my mind would happen in the space where i was. Too many films when young shaped my will to believe things can happen, people can want and travel fast than light to be in impossible places and say expected but unreal things.
Also Friday I wanted to be someone else - another parallel life I guess. This happened twice.
Next Friday is a mystery about which I am building stories, imagining possibilities in a infinite rehearsal to happen in real life.

In the title am quoting my sister in the title of this post, in case is not clear my free style adaptation of academic quotations.

Next week will be dedicated time traveling in to personal history.

the name of the colour

Internet was a war invention as well as many other useful as amazing inventions. But that the name of our favourite colour - yes, of course, Magenta - is based in a war too? For fuck sake!
Here is the link to the page at our also favorite encyclopedia that has more about it:

identification

somebody whispered words that made me take pictures.
One thought lead to another: I feel like changing the picture of my profile and this lead me to the obvious, 'which image?'.
How about a sexy? How about clever? How about funny?
Ho gosh, It's just a profile!
No is not!
Is a whole identity!
Is what people will judge me by. I don't go to parties wearing just underwear, am I?

Then I thought about some of my friends who give a lot of use to 'their spaces' and are 'high(at)five' online. What would I think of them if we only had met online? They are, online, not like who they are in reality, in their physical existence. At least most of them. In a couple of cases, strangely enough for me, I realized that the online and the physical identity mix in everyday situations: they talk the talk they give to mates online to me in their physical, everyday life, as I was one of them. Very confusing this is, as what they say and what they do is not coherent. OK with other people without life online this happens too. fair enough. But not the same way.
I see so many sexy pictures of girls (Hi Sexy boy!!) on my friends spaces that it feels they must be very macho and great womanizer. In fact, they are the average good guy. Which is good because I get scared they are all actually that really good looking.
I don't know if I should show my legs, boobs (not a problem with nudity), perhaps if I should dare to go further and take an obscene picture. This way I would surely be noticed. Maybe I could choose clever style and stick to the good friends I already have I may be taken more seriously perhaps although it will destroy the chances for the sexy chat up.
Tough decision.

statement. for real!

Tareco the defender of the castle

The examples I know where life and art practice merge, economical gain, in general, is not a major purpose. Instead, the important element is appreciation and celebration of living by making art of daily life moments.

I am interested in ways of knowing the world. At the moment I am trying to understand how numbers as symbols, are related to social and individual rituals.

Pictures can be a symbolic document to re-activate a memory or to freeze personal historical time. When a picture is taken of a group of people, friends for example, it is sometimes as a collective improvised performance: the arrangement for a final composition, leading to the momentary click. There are stories to tell of the moments before the momentary click, improvised or premeditated.

The reasons for asking Rae to take seven pictures of people and places in Falmouth before she came to visit me have to do with all these things: symbolic meanings through numbers, personal stories represented through pictures and a purpose for a collective gathering with objective of taking pictures. Celebrating relationships is the main objective.
he picture above is of the guardian of the house I live. Lions can be seen seen in stone at the feet of kings and queens tombs of the history of this country. They are the symbolic guardians. My lion Tareco (that is the name of the lion) protects us from the street fights, not often but possible on these street. These are action times.

o dia da separacao sexual

Ha um dia em que se celebra um dos sexos e se deixa o outro por celebrar.
Based on the events throughout history that lead to this commemoration, I wonder if is the right celebration. To celebrate the day of the women is forgetting all the fights of feminism because they are not remembered in this day (not on big national events, open to most people). This is a mild celebration (?) of difference. A day when we remember that there are two sexes, the one being celebrated and the other.
At least during this day, men are 'the other', the lack of subject for celebration.
So what does it mean to celebrate the day of the women? Are we celebrating all the revolutionary women as well as those that may as well never ever lived if we had a better life without them?
If this is a serious thing, what shall be done during this day? Shall the boss give to the women workers a pay rise to match similar roles by men workers?
This is basic, I am not making the effort to think about all changes to make sexes uneven. In two centuries of fights, collective revolutions, personal radical attitudes, still, we (as in women) didn't made it to equality.
