exploring and questioning

Sometimes people do things to us which they are not aware they do: they are just being, we are reacting to things perhaps not aimed at us. And we learn with these things others do. Sometimes is in a common sense conversation we find key meanings for change.

Revolution. I need one. \m/

Sometimes is while teaching that we learn. Let yourself be surprised for a moment by yourself.

As I go through Situationist, 'TAZ' text by Hakin Bey and other revolutionary ideas that are background to realtime audiovisual performance theory and thought, with students here at the Cimatics Masterclass, I understand this need to revolution and to formalize it somehow. I am here, talking about and proposing methods, which are parallel to the traditional ones, found in art contexts and came to this point of thought which is a reflection on how they can be of use in a real situation.
The creation of an art space which doesn't exist seems appropriate. Or in matter of fact, one which exists as a place but not placed in any map, being it artistic or economic. It seems like a good idea at this moment.

I am in exploration mode.

Questioning what I have/am/connected and related with, takes me to a need for conclusions/close downs.
(From where to take the energy for revolution perhaps.)

The phase of 'ending'. A skill in need to be learned. The non-judgmental and supposedly open attitude of not judging others and situations, motivations and intentions in killing the ends of relationships, of projects of attitudes. Accepting difference. Where is the end? Is it really true that only the death of the body is final and all is mutable and we should 'never say never?'.
Can the end of something be a process to work towards? the same way we work towards evolution or the same way we work towards maturation?

Back to the process of learning. This is a skill we all have as we also have skills to teach. These two activities happen everywhere at every moment (ask Plato, he knew that).

This is a little 'Q&A' from an avid learner.

Brussels

Documenting process is not always easy, especially if it's made out of non fixed projects. There are a few happening at the masterclass in Brussels and we are trying to make a learning environment open to all participators and which is useful at later stages after this workshop VJ Theory is doing.

visually in love again

I saw this lady called Billy Roisz performing at Cimatics festival last October and I loved her performance. She has been also invited to the Cimatics MasterClass and it was through their website that I was able to find her again.
The lady of many feedbacks who also plays visually with turntables, just like Magenta Interior.

To know more about the lady: http://gnu.klingt.org/home.html
To watch video recordings from her talk and performance at the Cimatics MasterClass: http://www.vimeo.com/418786

The joy of the analogue is celebrated once again by women. Touch seems to be as important as the mixture of technologies. This may sound strange (or maybe not) but I wonder how much of it has to do with gender differences in understanding and using technologies. As women (not exclusively), we seem to use technologies differently form men. Not so much interested in latest releases and novelties, we (as in women) seem to be more into multi-technology use, misuse and exploration of its potential, even after the novelty has gone, turning each technology into a new use always renewed with imagination. We also tend to the limits between the low-fi and the no-fi, something I relate to the comfort of home. We tend to the home made explosive creativity instead of laboratory methodological experiment.
am I alone on these thoughts?

wonders of the technologies

Lary Seven, the guy that amazed us a few times with his found 8mm footage at SHARE NY will be doing a show of technologies that produce images. This should be an amazing event.
It is a promise of a moment which is also a live museum which is also a history of the technologies for the realtime performance, on a realtime performance.

the flyer says:
'An evening of glass slides, magic lantern projections, and antique technologies, in inventive combinations, with silent films and sounds recordings played on the wind-up victrola and other musical devices.
Lary Seven, Joel Schlemowitz and Bradley Eros, experimental film artists and collectors of obsolete media artifacts, present a night of uncanny images: mysterious travels, occult iconography, bizarre creatures, industrial detritus, and the strange and wondrous landscapes of fairy tales, fables and myths of the artificial sublime, displayed through the translucent exotica of hand-tinted photographs, decayed surfaces, and the odd symbols and illustrations of the mundane made marvelous.'

I wish I was there to experience all that is the marvel of the visuals and experience the uniqueness of the moment.

I am virtual again

I am the addicted soul of the virtual. No choice in my case as most of the work I do is through and developed for the Internet. My need has grown from a strong decision of creating professional as well as personal relationships through computers and other mobile devices. Therefore, feeding the growing craving for some time online is a major driven force to get to know what is available to me, where can I go and how much do I need to spend. I am virtual and I am physical in equal shares.

I am back online from Porto and wherever I am in the country.
Bless Internet.

invisibility phial: dead scene scrollworks #1

http://www.gloriousninth.net/invisibility_phial
a new artwork from glorious ninth

On the day I looked at Guernica for the first time I think I felt how strong and intense experiencing an artwork could be. Guess this was the beginning of a new religion to me. This week I had a stranger and strong feeling with Isabel's exhibition and this online work by Kate and Patrick.
Perhaps because I know well what is the driven force of these artists work. This force is honesty exposed in the most open way. This honesty comes from the belief in the same religion: art and a devotion to it, taking by force all the living energy of their bodies and minds. I am talking here of some of the most dear people to my heart. Isabel, there is not much to say as she is the true sister. Kate has been the leading and guiding force for the past four years.
In both cases I had to stop looking and leave the gallery and the website because I felt like getting into a forbidden place of their soul and this how honest and open their work is.
